Happy August Reader! Instead I heard her saying the same words I had heard from her for the past few weeks, I just need to figure out X and then I can move forward. At that point that I said to her … you know what? You just need to get out of the spin cycle so you can dry your clothes and fold them. We both had a good laugh!! After all, she’s a coach too, so even though she was a little stuck on this one thing, she knew exactly what I was talking about. Sometimes there isn’t actually anything for us to figure out, but keeping our mind in problem-solving mode makes us feel safe. If we don’t finish what we are currently doing or thinking that is keeping us preoccupied, we might not have to find out what happens when it is finished. And at some level our brains are just spinning because we are afraid! The real solution that we actually need sometimes is help … to get out of our own way and be open to something new. Something that we actually can’t figure out on our own because it involves learning things that simply aren’t in our zone of genius. And when we get that help, things start to move a lot faster!! Does this metaphor resonate with you? Is there an area of your life where you find yourself in the spin cycle - repeating the same (false) thought, belief or story over and over again? I’d love to hear from you, just hit reply to share what you’ve uncovered!! Have a wonderful weekend! Much love, PS: I’m teaching a free workshop the week of August 12th, Audition Freedom, designed to help actors get out of the spin cycle when it comes to their auditions. I did too, for years, before I discovered Energy Work. And I would say that I was committed and regular in my practice and that there was a lot about it that I found extremely helpful. Taking the time to be still in the busy world that we are in is in and of itself a powerful and rebellious act. And at the same time, I remember reading about...
Happy Sunday Reader! After moving through a surprising, energizing and challenging Eclipse Season, towards the end of last week I had a huge revelation. The first quarter of 2025 is officially over! It has been a really weird year so far. Starting the year grieving my mom’s passing, having LA be on fire for weeks so soon after my big move cross country, the insanity of the government, plus all of the little machinations of getting settled in a new place after living in the same city for 20+...
I have a question for you, Reader! How often do you take bold action in your life? If you told me that it was rare, I wouldn’t be all that surprised. Yes, even for you actor types. Because even though we think we want change, everything about our design – our nervous system + family and societal conditioning – is actually built for safety and security. Our nervous system is literally laying down tracks every day to make the tasks in our day-to-day life more efficient, so that we can reserve...
