I used to be afraid of bubbles

When I was young, my family went on a camping trip in Savannah. We were walking on the beach one evening and I was terrified of the bubbles in the sand. It didn't matter when my Mom told me that there was nothing to be afraid of, they were from the clams underneath. That only made me more afraid.

What if a clam snapped off a toe while I was walking in the sand?

So there I was, relatively grown up, being carried by my mother while my baby sister (who was barely walking) and older sister contently frolicked in the sand.

Now, I'm not afraid of bubbles in the sand anymore, though I can be a little prissy when it comes to getting sand stuck to my feet.

Nonetheless, at that point in time, those bubbles were unknown, and therefore, scary. And maybe also, I just wanted some love and attention from my Mom.

I don't remember being there in that moment or how I felt, and maybe I never will. But I know about this event because my Dad took a photo that memorialized that moment that was very prominent. I have a family who likes to tease and they weren't shy about reminding me of my timidity.

For a long time I was embarrassed by it all, until I realized that there was nothing wrong with the way I behaved. I needed something in that moment to be safe and I did what I needed to feel that way.

So when I know exactly what I SHOULD do to move my big dreams and desires forward, but can't seem to motivate or do anything, I remember that little girl who was afraid of the bubbles and the clams.

That little girl in me needs to feel safe and nurtured and know that it is okay to be afraid of the unknown and exactly the way that I am in that moment.

When I take a pause and give the little Natalie within me exactly what she needs, I'm able to get back out there again and try the things that are a little bit scary (even though they are unknown).

Are you feeling stuck and unable to build forward momentum even though you know what you should do? If so, I'd love to chat.

I specialize in helping my clients figure out what's standing in their way and then teaching them how to give all the parts of themselves exactly what they need to move forward again towards their dreams.

I did too, for years, before I discovered Energy Work. And I would say that I was committed and regular in my practice and that there was a lot about it that I found extremely helpful. Taking the time to be still in the busy world that we are in is in and of itself a powerful and rebellious act. And at the same time, I remember reading about...

Happy Sunday Reader! After moving through a surprising, energizing and challenging Eclipse Season, towards the end of last week I had a huge revelation. The first quarter of 2025 is officially over! It has been a really weird year so far. Starting the year grieving my mom’s passing, having LA be on fire for weeks so soon after my big move cross country, the insanity of the government, plus all of the little machinations of getting settled in a new place after living in the same city for 20+...

I have a question for you, Reader! How often do you take bold action in your life? If you told me that it was rare, I wouldn’t be all that surprised. Yes, even for you actor types. Because even though we think we want change, everything about our design – our nervous system + family and societal conditioning – is actually built for safety and security. Our nervous system is literally laying down tracks every day to make the tasks in our day-to-day life more efficient, so that we can reserve...
